Barbara Windsor turned landlady for the day this weekend in support of an East
London Charity.
The UK’s most famous landlady lent her support to Spitalfields Crypt Trust’s Charity Shop Strut on Saturday 8 May in aid of their work to help people recover from addiction and
homelessness.
She served Fentimans’ botanically brewed soft drinks from the Bicycle Bar,
before waving the starting flag in Bethnal Green on a 5 mile sponsored walk that
took in the charity’s East London shops.
Sonia Rai from SCT said ‘we are delighted that Barbara Windsor lit up the streets
of East London with her support of our first ever Charity Shop Strut’.
Jaala Pickering from Fentimans, the event’s sponsor, said ‘we really enjoyed
working with Barbara Windsor and Bicycle Bar to serve up our delicious range of
soft drinks to participants and local residents in support of this worthy cause’.
At the end of the sponsored walk Barbara Windsor congratulated the
participants and served up more refreshments at SCT’s Paper & Cup coffee shop
in Poplar. Funds raised from the event will be ploughed into SCT’s continued
community support.
It was a great day for Bicycle Bar, wheeling around the streets of east London serving drinks to thirsty fundraisers. And we're excited to continue working with Fentimans on other pop-up bars... watch out for a bespoke pop-up coming soon!
